| Abstract |
Most national legislation, as well as the standards
set by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) through Conventions
and Recommendations covers many different aspects of the employment
relationship. These range from the right not to be dismissed
arbitrarily to the methods governments should use to collect
labour statistics. However, in order to develop a strategic
approach to labour standards that is applicable to a wide range
of circumstances and addresses the most urgent or instrumentally
important issues, it is necessary to identify a core group of
labour rights which will always be addressed. This is assuming
that a wider category of rights will be implemented in addition
to this minimum wherever possible. |
